
Gilbert History
Gilbert–Say “Hay there!” 122 years ago, in 1902, “Bobby” Gilbert, a landowner in the territory donated land for the Arizona Eastern Railway for the rail line that would run between Phoenix and Florence, Arizona the county seat situated close to the Gila River which was an important agricultural area at that time. In 1912, after a group of Mormons who had fled Mexico due to the actions of Pancho Villa and his forces settled in Gilbert. Thus began the formation of this vital farming community
